JCA is one of the few schools of its size to have a cross country team. Both male and female students compete in meets locally.
Cross country conditioning has begun! Cross country is unlike any other sport! Not only are runners competing against others, they are challenging themselves to improve their times. Many of the cross country meets include hundreds of runners. The participants and spectators cheer as much or more for the slowest runners as they do for the fastest. Students who participate in cross country gain a sense of pride and achievement when they accomplish what once seemed extremely difficult.
High school athletes will run 3.1 miles. Middle school athletes will run 2 miles at most meets. Most of the meets will take place on Saturday mornings during the months of September and October. You must have an up-to-date physical on file with Mrs. Monosky to participate in any AHSAA sport.
7th - 12th graders who are interested in running cross country should contact Coach Neal ( aneal@jcaweb.net ) to be added to group messages. 6th graders are encouraged to practice with the team. However, they will still participate in the elementary meets this year.
