JCA celebrated Homecoming 2010 on Friday, October 29th. JCA fought hard against Fayetteville High School scoring two touchdowns, one in the last minutes of the game. The final score of the game was 21 to 14. Thanks to all those who came out to support the football team this year!

At halftime the homecoming court was honored. The 2010 Homecoming Court included Freshmen Tiffany Stack and Rebecca Sparks, Sophomores Sarah Kathryn Eubanks and Tiffany Phillips, Juniors Jennie Monosky and Catilyn Schultz. The three Senior Queen nominees included Courtney Oliver, Tiffany Ridgeway, and Shelby Smith. The 2009 Homecoming Queen, Miss Katie Coggins, crowned Miss Shelby Smith, as the 2010 Homecoming Queen.

On Friday, October 22, 2010, Mrs. Hurst‟s Science classes took a field trip to the Botanical Gardens. The students participated in a hands-on discovery. The students discovered how animals need plants, as well as ways woodland plants depend on animals. Students searched the Barber Alabama Woodlands and found evidence of all kinds of creatures who live there. The students also participated in a guided bird walk sponsored by the Birmingham Audubon Society. Students identified various types of birds with the use of binoculars.
